We were up early, but the weather looked a bit cloudy initially. By the time we had had our breakfast it had cleared up.
Started out with a rather expensive internet session--ended up paying over 17,000 rupiahs. Then walked as far as the beach, and walked along it for a bit. After we had gotten our bearings we took a long walk towards the antique vendors' area of the town, past a huge Hard Rock cafe/hotel, looked at lots of artwork, souvenirs, etc.
Pupi knew of a wine made in Bali, and after inquiring about it were directed to a restaurant that sold it, Made's Warung (Warung is something like a specialist store, in this case an eating-house). Decided to have a bite to eat there. Pupi had Nasi Goreng, about 9,000, while I had tuna in a chile, kunir (might be cumin), merica (round, very small, possibly mustard), red onions (bawang merah) sauce.
How to make Chinese Nasi Goreng--spices: very small amount of fresh small red and green chilis, one big red chile (not spicy, and the seeds are not used), garlic, bawang merah (red onion?), salt, oil. Mix in a bowl, and press into a sauce. All are fried for about 3 minutes. Add soya sauce (if preferred) or tomato sauce or oyster sauce. Add shrimp, chicken, etc., as preferred, and some vegetables such as chopped cabbage, bean sprouts, etc. Cook the rice, then let it cool a little. Then add the rice to the sauce and fry for a about 5 minutes. Chopped omelette can then be added. Serve with prawn crackers, garnish with sliced cucumber, tomato.
