Day 8 Friday 24 May, Sumenep, Madura
|
|
The School
Sirjurum and three of his pupils picked us up at the school. I spoke for about an hour
on Ireland, its position in Europe, etc. Afterwards there were questions and answers,
but inevitably the discussion reverted to the world cup and who was going to win.
Heat-stroke
The day was very hot but we walked into town and strolled around until early afternoon.
But back at the hotel I felt like I was burning up.
Began to feel very hot, and feared this was the onset of heat-stroke.
The heat is oppressive.
Try as you may, hide in the shade, avoid moving, the hot, damp air
smothers you and you end up bathed in perspiration.
