Day 54: Tuesday 9 July, Bangkok

To next day

Had to pick up laundry and get the ticket for Singapore. After trying several options, we found a flight available on Scandinavian Airways on 14th, so I booked that one.

On my way back from the travel agency a truck carrying a load of durians, but with three policemen in the back, came tearing down the alley. There was a mad scurring among the roadside hawkers and restaurant owners to get their stalls off the "footpath" (well, the raised piece of concrete that should be a footpath, but is usually taken over by the streetside hawkers or parked cars). In an amazingly brief space of time most of the hawkers had their stall dismantled or hidden around some corner, so that by the time the police returned on foot everything seemed to be in order. However, five minutes after the police left, everybody was back in business again.

The weather was a bit iffy this afternoon, one very heavy downpour forcing everyone indoors. Met John, Michael, some of the others as usual at MyFriend. Slight improvement to the arms, but I keep wearing the long-sleeved shirt (as Michael said "I've never come across that before...").
